Wow two days in a row I'm posting. Mainly because Dani and Pops are gone and Annie and her parents left early this morning - not sure where they went but they were in excellent spirits. William and Jeni have decided they will not leave me alone - besides, William is talking to a realtor today about some a place about a mile up river. Maybe we'll have new neighbors soon - he place has been empty for over a year pops said but he does not know why and no one he has asked does either.

I had a surprise at 7:30 this morning - it sounded like a big truck was coming towards the house. I was off a little - it looks like a big shovel like I used to see in the quarry near my grade school. It and a smaller tractor with a shovel or scoop on the front and another thing that looks like a crane but does not have the long thingy sticking up in the air were all rolling down a ramp off a barge that Cheese had pushed into the bank.

I did not see one person anywhere and it freaked me out - I thought the machines were coming to get us. I started to yell but William and Jeni came running into my room thinking we were getting hit by a tornado. When William saw the stuff he said they were a day early.

We both looked at him and he said sorry, pops secret, can't say anything. At that moment the perimeter alarm went off and Jeni sent to another room to check and yelled that a younger guy had just started walking around the back of the cabin.

I looked and when he came out into the open I saw it was the Doctor from town that rented pops boat house. I figured he must be doing the upgrades he had asked pops for. William told me I Must be right but the way he said it told me he knew more.

I am very close to Cheese's wife and therefore to Cheese - although I am not sure. I got dressed and dodged the heavy equipment and noticed three or four people surveying a spot a long way from the dock. I climbed on the tug the way Cheese had showed me and climbed up to the wheel house.

He was smiling and drinking from a big thermos. His oldest daughter was sitting on a tall stool seat belted in - she is so cute and calls me 'isa' - can't quite get the Ls right yet.

I asked Cheese what was going on and he held his finger to his mouth telling me to be quiet. I looked around and he laughed and said he could not say. He was just doing what the construction company wanted - deliver heavy equipment, dirt, gravel and some lock boxes to this location. That's all he could say. I told him I was going to call his wife and instead he handed me a radio mike.

He wife answered after a short pause and I asked what was going on at the cabin. She did not know - did not even know where Cheese was but could raise him quickly. I handed the mic back and left and almost ended up in the river. It is raining a little and the damn ladders are really tricky.

One of his helpers saw me slip and escorted me off the boat.

I slipped and slid back to the cabin and called pops - Dani answered and asked what was wrong and pops told her he didn't know. I told her what I knew and she whispered she would drag it out of him and call me back. That was almost 2 hours ago and I have not heard a thing.

I just saw them unload some disposable toliets - not disposable but I can't think of the right word - I'm frustrated because one of the tractors just backed through one of moms favorite flower beds and two other guys just cut a tree that fell on the barge. I don't know if they did it on purpose or not.

It just seems someone should clue me in. The doctor left before I could talk to him and the tractor driver said he was following orders and his boss had gone with the tugboat to get another barge with gravel and dirt.

So, I have to sit here and wonder what the hell is going on - afraid to do anything but afraid I'll get ripped for not doing something.

Oh well, if pops wanted to give us a surprise he made it a good one.

And on a day when it pours for 2 minutes - blows like hell and then calms down. We had flood warnings and a forecast that says it'll do this all day. William is worried about the floods but the river here is only about 2 feet higher then normal. We have another 15 feet to go before we should get worried but then again, I have never been here during a flood so I have no idea what 'normal' is.

I think I'll stick my foot up Pops' ass when he gets back.
