We are at the cabin checking out the flood. We will not be here long. Stubby tells us everything should be fine unless we get more rain upstream.

He figures the river will crest about 10 feet lower then 1993. We sure hope so. He expects the highest water sometime on Sunday.

William and Jeni are glad it flooded – found they were going to build in a bad spot. Their partial foundation is completely covered and is about seven feet under water. They have five other spots they are checking out. So at least one good thing has happened.

Almost everyone has evacuated the area. There is one family going to ride it out but they are very near the top of the valley which is thirty to forty feet higher then we are.

Captain is very happy he put the Lisa Marie in dry dock. They’ve closed the river to all non-commercial traffic so it is a good place for it. He is also busy working on the cabinets at his ‘old’ place that he and the new buyers are converting to a B&B.

One of his friends is currently living in a former guest bedroom. The friend lives near Hardin IL and ALL of his farm land is under water. He hopes his house and outbuildings will be fine. He decided he did not want to watch and that he’d visit Captain. As it turns out Captain has kept him busy helping.

Pops has 10 guys here tearing the computer room and communications room apart. He is moving all electronic equipment to higher ground. Cheese and some of his guys have moved all the furniture upstairs. Only things left are two computer desks William have people here installing a tower cam on the TV tower. We can watch things float away from anywhere.

Annie and Cindy are looking at a penthouse loft across the street from work. Cindy thinks it could be a problem being in ‘line-of-site’ from work but Annie loves it. Says when someone gives her crap she can have them look out the window at the finger she is showing them – or while she moons them. Heh Heh.

Dani, Pops and Moms would like to thank all of you for your condolences and prayers. Everything went fine and they are glad it is over.

The water is receding at the big house. This morning was the first time we were able to drive out – all roads are dry. We did see several fields still flooded but most of the guys can get re-planted – as long as it does not rain any more.

So we’ll be at the big house later today. Plan on staying there for at least a month. Pops did not open the pool over Memorial Day because of the crappy weather so the guys cleaned it yesterday and will fill it today. The weather is just about perfect – 80s during the day – high 50s at night – clean skies all day – no rain forecasted for several days – all windows wide open – it feels so good.

I’m on the highest deck looking out over the valley and rivers. It is so quiet and peaceful. It all looks so normal. Except there is no river traffic. It is beautiful but eerie or maybe weird is a better word.

So we are all fine after all the drama of last week and the floods. Dani says she was editing a story about Pops at the funeral home. She said Grannie told her to do it. She’ll post it later. Pops says he has about ten stories waiting for him. So we have stuff coming soon.

We hope to be ‘normal’ tomorrow – if we ‘have’ a normal. This will be the last post from the cabin for a while. Be home later – see you then.
