Things are improving but they got worse before they got better.

Pops and Cg1 both ended up in the hospital with pneumonia. His nurses visited again and decided they needed more attention.

Neither got their flu shot this year and neither had a pneumonia shot in the last three years. Moms are not happy with Pops. Captain and I made supper last night, red meat, potatoes and veggies and the others cleaned their plates and the pots. The teens even felt like making some homemade ice cream and the three of them were pigs - didn't offer us even a bite.

Good to see them hungry again.

I took a half-hour shower and did not get tired at all - I even shaved ALL the necessary body parts. Captain felt good enough this morning to make homemade biscuits, sausage patties, bacon and cooked up scrambled eggs for sausage/bacon, egg and cheese biscuits. Yum Yum.

Pops called saying he was leaving at 9 am with or without permission and Cg1 was coming with him. If someone was not there when they did their jail hospital break, they were running away together. Captain told him laa-dee-freaking-dah and to have fun.

Cg1 called back to make sure we knew they were serious. Poor girl, Davis gave her so much crap - even Davis felt sorry for her. Henry called a little later wanting to know if there was anything else he needed to get when he went in to get Pops.

We gave him several things we needed - all made up - if he gets half, it'll take all day. We figure Pops will tell him to forget it all - if not, we are going to be swimming in it this weekend.

We do not need anymore "Get Well" messages or home remedies or suggestions of healthy food.

We have a virus - it is a really bad virus. Several of us took showers INSTEAD of baths this morning which is a big step forward - yesterday all we could do was crawl into the bath tub or jacuzzi and lay there until the water got cold.

It felt SO good to wash my hair this morning. Erin, Fire, G, Annie, Summer and Red's Mom came out last night to help anyway they could. Bruce and Adam stopped by later but no one wanted what they offered. Sorry guys.

So, how do I say this with tact? Leave us the fuck alone - we are sick - thanks much!

We are no better. Pops even got his oxygen machine out of the closet early this morning for a breathing treatment. Davis is back acting as head nurse - Cg1 even felt like sex but only lasted about 2 minutes before falling asleep.

Red's parents drove out to get Fish. Her father spent several minutes looking around and Pops invited them out for dinner once we are better. Red told him her Dad used to fish everyday but quit once he retired. Captain said he would show him some good fishing if it warms up again.

So I am awake long enough to tell Moms we are all still down - later.

Pops doc brought him home this afternoon with a portable oxygen machine - I think it makes it's own or something.

It is fairly small, battery/AC operated, quiet and can fit into a back pack. As soon as his doc left, Pops put it on a closet and has not worn it since.

The doc brought two nurses with and when they gloved up I warned everyone to cover their buttholes - these girls looked to prefer anal thermometers. They laughed and checked us all.

The result - we have a virus that affects the respiratory system and I think it kills the immune system but they didn't say that.

The teens wanted something so they got some very mild antibiotics and a shot - probably of B vitamin or something. They did seem to perk up after about an hour but they didn't look any better.

After the medics left, Pops gave everyone a small pill and said the doc told him they would help.

And in about two hours everyone did seem in better spirits and Red even ventured home for a bit. Stubby told Lisa he was horny and Lisa told him to pick on me. I told him where to put his monster but it was in his own body.

Lisa just showed me the bottle containing the pills we took. Inert - placebo - not-even-sugar-pill. It was all in our heads. She gave Liz another and she actually seemed to feel good enough to take a quick walk on the treadmill but she did not last long - too soon Lisa told her.

We ate more chicken soup - this time with perfect dumplings - yum, yum. Cheese even ate with us and said he never gets this when he is sick - usually he just gets a swift kick in the ass.

Lisa caught Stubby, Pops and Captain smoking - she was not happy and told them all where their dicks would end up if she caught them again. I wonder if they would close the lock down to look for three severed penises?

The second time they did it I went with them - I bad - but it clears my sinuses. Sorry Moms.

Time for sleepy-bye.

Nope, we are not better. I thought I was until I tried to sit up and eat. I quickly returned to my preferred position - on my stomach. This virus is mean.

No one- not even Fish was immune from this round. Lisa called Cheese to take Pops to the emergency room. She said his lungs sounded like sandpaper on gravel. Cheese rolled Pops out of here in a wheelchair - Pops was too tired to walk.

The hospital put him on oxygen and gave him several breathing treatments. His doctor kept him overnight just to be careful.

Lucy sent Cheese with pies and a big pot of chicken soup and several different type of sandwiches. They were yummy.

We are fed, hydrated and getting plenty of rest. Pops doctor said if we were still down this afternoon he would bring a team out to examine us.

Wish us luck.

Some days everything sucks.
Click To See/Hide The Rest +/-

No matter what you do, no matter what planning, no matter backups you have in place - everything still sucks.

Last night I sat through about a thousand pictures the kids took of trees. Not that is was boring, some of the pictures were really beautiful. I've asked Pops to 'break' the connection between the photo server and the TV or at least use only the great room TV. The kids made my bed the center of attention while we watched the pictures on my TV.

I was so glad when Liz finally saw me yawn the hundredth time and determine I was tired and not feeling very well. I was frozen under several blankets. She texted an apology a little later when I was almost asleep. Thoughtful girl.

This morning I woke up to someone shaking me. The teens were here all with fevers. Captain was in front of the fire under two heavy quilts - Pops was beside him with an electric throw blanket. Stubby was banking the fire wearing a heavy coat and a blanket around that.

Lisa was on another couch under the bear skin and wearing a hooded coat. It looked like she had gloves on.

It was about a hundred degrees in the great room in front of the fireplace but they were all shivering. What they didn't know - I was still sick and just as cold as them. I sat on the hearth with my back to the fire and when my back was cooked I laid on my side with my front facing the fire. When I felt just about ready to burst into flames, I crawled into the blankets and sleeping bags with the teens. They loved it.

I woke up with one of the girls wrapped around my legs, another in front and the last one curled up against my back. We were nice and toasty. Davis was handing out cups of soup and tea and then I saw the classmates on the floor in front of the fireplace. They were hugging each other shivering. Davis said Lisa left work at one and the classmates left at two. He brought them here since he heard others were sick and he was to leave for Chicago this morning.

He didn't know he was going to be the nurse for all of us. Red and Fish got here with her just as bad as the rest of us. Pops took Fish and made a tent for them at the end of the couch on a big pillow. Last glance showed they were sound asleep.

I had antibiotics ready to fight whatever - I had all the pain relievers and fever fighters you could want. I have plenty of juice - I have extra TP, hot water bottles, ice packs, heating pads, electric blankets, electric throw blankets even electric hunter's socks. We have the furnace set to 80 and Davis is in shorts and still sweating.

Erin called late last night - she and Fire are sick. So even thought we were all washing our hands several times a day and not sharing silverware or glasses, we are all sick again. Pops says he is throwing out the antibacterial crap and we can all share everything - maybe we won't get so sick.

Cg1 just woke and told us the entire third floor of the hospital, pediatrics including patients and staff are all sick. They called an extra shift in to care just for that floor. Someone said it was a virus. She shivered, Cg2 hugged her and they went back to sleep.

This sucks - I've drank a half carton of orange juice and some whiskey - I am still frozen am writing this under a blanket. The laptop is shivering from me. Later when I warm up.

Sick Again – Nov 9 2008 by Dani

I cannot believe how many times I have been sick this year. Pops says it is the teens fault but they don’t seem to be sick and so far, no one else is complaining.
Click To See/Hide The Rest +/-

I went to bed about noon yesterday feeling nauseated. I got up about 1 this afternoon and do not feel too bad. I am starved so Captain is making me some chicken soup. Best medicine in the world.

Erin and Fire came out yesterday but I fell asleep about 10 seconds after they got here. Lisa said they just wanted to make sure I was OK with everything. I wonder why they are so worried. I tried to call this afternoon but all I get is their voice mail.

Everyone is gone – Pops and Stubby took his small tug somewhere. Lisa met the classmates for lunch then went to the hospital to work this evening for her monthly requirements.

Captain put together some soup for me – I can tell it is almost done from the smell. Captain went to work at some job location – he has so many jobs right now he is busy, busy, busy.

Adam and Bruce are in Canada – Will and Jeni are in hiding again trying to make a baby.

Denny and Cindy went back home for a week or so – Debby went with to check out that office.

Summer and Annie are in Colorado or Idaho – maybe skiing – they have not checked in yet.

G is with her sister who just had a baby boy. No pics yet (hint-hint).

Moms are someplace in Europe to teach more classes. The installation crew got detained for some of the tools they had. It took over 48 hours to get them cleared so they are a couple of days behind schedule.

Red, Kim and Jim are staying close to home – Fish is teething and Jim seems to be the only one that can comfort him.

Liz took the other girls north to Grannie’s for more fall pictures and to check on things. Rumor has it that Mr. Nerd and gB boyfriends went with. B currently hates all men – not sure why and she is not saying.

Davis and DenI went looking for motorcycle parts in Kentucky and BBS and her Mom are on the magnificent mile spending boat loads of money but saving even more. (???)

So I am reading a few chapters and waiting for the race rain delay to end and the soup timer to ring.

Don’t know when this will get posted – have to wait for Pops and I do not know where he is.

Total update – how was that?
