Dani’s Update

Up early this morning to make my mother’s Cheese bake – don’t know why we call it that. Hash browns, bacon, eggs beaten, onions diced, green and red peppers diced, choice of grated cheese(s) baked covered till eggs are done then covered with more cheese and browned on top. No salt added, pepper after the fact, usually not needed because -

Put a spoonful on a piece of buttered toast and spoon on the sausage gravy. Pops says this is what caused his heart attack – but he loves it.

He eats very small portions. Once at a restaurant in TN, he asked the waitress to make him a haystack – she had no idea what that was – he gave her instructions and the cook made it.

We went on with our trip and about 3 weeks later when we came back through, pops went to the same place. They had a new special – Somebody’s Haystack – but they allowed you to choose your meat – hamburger, pork chop, bacon, sausage, or steak.

Another version was fries instead of hash browns. Waitress said it became their most popular choice for breakfast. She asked his name and changed the chalk menu board to his name.

Annie, BBs, moms and I went back through about three years later and his breakfast was now printed on the menu. Mom brought one home for him. It’s framed in his den right next to his degrees.

I read Lisa’s update – I was really surprised they were all done – I’m also going to intercept BBS and the rest and tell them that Lisa is sick. See if they believe me. If they do, I’ll offer to replace her then take them to her room. She’ll be surprised to find out she is sick.

Guess I better keep my legs closed to pops fingers – sounds like this was the endurance he was talking about.

Otherwise pops says we might leave for the cabin tonight. Can’t wait – for some reason it is so much cozier then here. Not sure why.
