Sorry it has been so long. As Pops says, life got in the way - And the fucking flood. I hate it. I am on the 9th floor of a hotel sitting on the balcony watching the river. It is going down but it’s taking so long.

This morning we took a ride to the cabin. We had to backtrack and try several different routes before we finally found enough dry roads. We had to park at the top of the cofferdam and walk down to the cabin. The road is covered in all the low spots but the driveway is dry although there is still a small mound of sand blocking the garage doors. Inside we could smell the dampness and mold that is the result of the ‘old’ first floor being flooded. The ‘new’ first floor is fifteen or more feet above the ‘old’ floor. Everything is fine and Stubby had a pump emptying the basement as we call the ‘old’ first floor. The boat house is also fine – there is a line running around it’s base about two feet high so we can see how high the water got. We also noticed that moms' garden and flowerbeds are all dead so that is sad. The swimming pool also had about 3 feet of water in it but is draining and just needs a good cleaning. Otherwise we came out fine. Stubby says it will take a week to get rid of the smell and mold once the water finishes draining – probably another month. We know of three people who lost their homes but they all say they will rebuild sooner or later. Stubby says things are much worse up both rivers – lots of crops lost. So we are going to stay at the motel and celebrate the 4th in the big city. I am also busy buying a building and converting some of the floors into condos. Annie is going to buy the top floor and pops wants the 2nd from the top. All the tenants are great and have offered a few suggestions. I am trying to get use to being responsible for a bunch of land and a trust account and settling up Grannie’s life. What a job. I just got a stack of property tax bills. I have never paid them before – I didn’t even know what they were at first. So much to learn. Luckily BBs mom is skilled and has been helping me lots. We were all relaxing last night - everyone is here now – and we all agreed we really miss the blogs. Our lives have been hectic but we have all made notes and hope to start writing again. William, Jeni, BBs and Deni almost got arrested in Las Vegas for indecent public exposure – it is a great story – coming soon. I posted the only story I had ready just a few minutes ago. Hope you enjoy it – Pops and his ‘first-timers’ are getting a kick out of it. More later.
